Shakespear made shiny and new

I’m well up for this sort of thing anyway, but when it’s the Barenaked boys, how can you resist?

moving house, part 5 – the old landlord and parcels
May 11th, 2005

The landlord of the current place wants to start showing new people the house. Not likely. We’ve got a few months left, we’re not legally obliged to let them in to see around until June 21st. So that’s when we’ll start.  I’m just apprihensive about annoying them as we’re going to need a reference from them for the new place.

This morning I got a letter, from MaryMaryQuiteContrary, or rather, an empty envelope – with the tiny of tinest holes in, looks like my Java badge didn’t make it transatlanic. MrBen got his okay, but says it was a close call…

A little later, loud knock at the door. Large FedEx box from Mary, this time with more exciting content. I presume. I’m opening it as I write this, so I can write what I get….

So, what we got? (like a kid at christmas)

  1. A very pretty and shiny java mug.
  2. 4 Large Java Magnets, some java-powered stickers (I have homes for these, real java powered devices too) some "Java.com check it out" temporary tattoos, which shall, I feel be present at LUGRadio Live!
  3. A really heavy, very large, quality made Bean Footed Duke. Most cool.
  4. A black 100% cotton Java T-Shirt. Good quality too, I’ve had loads of freebie T-shirts that fall apart or are so thin you can see my nipples thru.
  5. A white "Java Everywhere" hat, which I will probably use in Summer – it’s white so nice and cooling and really cood quality again – I’m dead impressed that Sun doesn’t skimp on the promo kit. Just because it doesn’t make you any money, doesn’t mean you should always get the cheapest available – this stuff is FAR from cheap. It’s all really plush. Anyway, I like baseball caps and refuse to believe I look stupid in them. Actually, I like hats generally. And always look stupid in them. If you’re all lucky, I’ll get a pic of me in my Teddy hat. It’s so warm, it’s lush!
  6. Another T-shirt, "Java Powered" – again, 100% cotton and nicely made.
  7. JOTD (signed) – as wibbled about by Yonkeltron the other day…. Mary, if you’re reading this, they guy who wrote this book wants a job at Sun :)
  8. *ANOTHER* T-Shirt, all black with small mono Java logo. Again, fab quality.
  9. Some really heavy feeling Sun Java pens (hard to photograph) – should be nice to write with.
  10. The USB stuff. Nice little kit in genuine leather wallet/folder. There’s:
    1. USB type A male to A female retractable cable
    2. USB type A male to type A male adapter
    3. USB type A male to type B male adapter
    4. USB type A male to mini 5pin male adapter
    5. USB type A male to mini 4pin male adapter
    6. USB type A female to PS2 adapter
    7. USB type a male mouse with retractable cable
    8. IEEE 1394 6pin male to IEEE1394 6pin male retractable cable
    9. IEEE 1394 6pin female to "mini firewire" adapter
    10. RJ11 to RJ11 retractable cable
    11. RJ45 to RJ45 retractable cable
    12. Headphone and Microphone "hands free" kit on 2×3.5mm jacks with retractable cable

It’s all very very lovely. Thank you Mary. Promise I won’t put any on ebay, really :)

Oh, and no bonuses for guessing the names of the fish that live on my desk :)
