May Google see, digest and process the following keywords:
NVMCP.SYS, Blue Screen Of Dead, BSOD, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, NForce2, Game, High Load
And that about says it all, really.  Windows XP and shitty drivers just ruined a darn fine game of Age Of Empires 3…. Sods….
Ah well, I only put Windows on here to find out what hardware was playing up anyway….ÂÂ
Atleast I have a darn good idea now….
After much feeding Google the random combinations of stuff I made it vomit enough back to work out that this is generally considered a bad soundcard, real rough under load, especially games, etc, and dies quite a bit — I’ve not found anything that says the same about Linux mind you…. But anyway, I’ve got an seperate (USB, External) card that I’m going to use (as soon as $housemate finds the PSU for it….
) and disable the NForce2 onboard thingywhat and see if that helps me like, google says, it has for just about everyone else with this problem….
Again, this post is really here for my future reference and to help others finding the same problems I’ve had with this darn thing….
[Edit: Oh, for the record, Asus A7N8X-E motherboard (I really like these boards...), AthlonXP 2100+, 1GiB Dual Channel DDR RAM, 20GiB PATA133 disk (It's for games only, bite me!), Radeon 9600Pro (I really like these cards too, just a shame that all the drivers available for it for Linux suck in some way or another) ]
[Edit2: Anyone posting comments along the lines of "XP, serves you right" or "Onboard sound, haha" or, worse, "ATI under Linux, you fool!" will magically find their comments not appearing... ]
